what a great time i am having! i'm bringing my camera along today, and i hope the other women don't think i'm a freak :)
i forgot to mention that monday when we folded our signatures, we folded all four folios at once. i did that at creative inspirations and one of my students teased me saying, "not a real bookbinder." but that is how i learned initially. so i'm proud to say i can continue doing that and still be a real bookbinder.
yesterday i pared leather, rounded my back and lined the back. the rounding looks so nice! we used the pared leather to make headbands, which we glued to the spine. we also used the board shear to trim the head and tail. some folks colored their paper edges, but i took the time to trim my foredge too because of my ineptitude with the paper knife....the foredge was a bit jagged. we kind of rushed to finish making our case because we wanted them to dry overnight. my decorative paper was a bit askew in its pattern, so even though i cut it square, it looks a bit off. it's the first pancake.
i loved reading about nina's gifts from her sons! my time is short because i have to prepare for class and prepare the house for my mom. yesterday we went to the hospital to visit my father-in-law who is having a stem cell transplant. he is very tired. today i have to finish cleaning up and move the futon back into the guest room after class. my mom comes tomorrow~
