i had just about 1 1/2 weeks between art and soul and leaving again for another retreat. babo was just able to settle in when we had to take off again.
i was able to get a few things done in that brief interlude. i uploaded a few books to etsy, bound a couple more, took pictures of some journal pages for a publication and got some rest. just before i left for virginia, i received a call from the manager of the paper source nearby. we had met years ago at an outdoor art fair. she was calling to see if i could teach some classes. so when i got home i gave her a call and i drove over there on friday. it looks like that might work out well. i brought samples of the books i make, but i would prefer to teach with book board and paper source papers. well, they would prefer that too. i was able to go in the back and pick through their scraps for my new samples. wowza! that was fun. i exercised a lot of restraint. but here are the goods.
i stuck to 3 color schemes. i'll have to bind up samples when i get back home.
now i'm at oxbow in michigan for the paper and book intensive. i arrived last night around dinner time and classes start later this morning. I will be learning about paste papers with michael burke, the nature of the surface with ann marie kennedy and the lamacraft model with pam spitzmueller. i can't wait to start.
unfortunately, i'm up really early. i'm hoping i can go back to sleep a bit before breakfast. but my tummy is really growling!
