i found two pictures that i had uploaded to flickr but not used yet. yay!
this is one of the preserved relic series, using a modified bradel binding. the covers are polymer clay. it's sewn with a long stitch and cased in with bookcloth. this is a new style for me.
i made this for my friend nina. i began it when we were teaching at art and soul. i was teaching the preserved relic long stitch and decided to make smaller covers for myself. i picked up the branch from outside the convention center where we were teaching. the bird was made by thomas mann. it is encased in resin. the green element is my celadon technique. and of course i had to add eyelets. what book is complete without them?
i didn't want to post this earlier because i wanted nina to be surprised. but she's received it now so i can share it with you.
i've been having difficulty sleeping and have had to nap during the day. i'm still traumatized by the loss of my computer. but today i must get over my fear and try to attach the camera to the computer i borrowed from my friend. i kind of missed my goal of listing a lot of books by black friday, but considering i was blocked for a year, i think i'm still doing pretty good. the naps are interfering with my productive time though.
i hope all my friends from the US had a lovely thanksgiving! i shared mine with friends and it was a great day. sometimes it's nice to spend a holiday with your non-blood-related family.
