yesterday i went to visit my friend carrie. i get a ton of work done there. i think it's because there's no distractions. i sanded awls for SEVEN HOURS!!
here's the process. the awls and sandpaper must be kept wet to keep the dust down. a drop of soap is added to the bath. first each item is sanded with 400 grit sandpaper. this is where most of the work is done. then each is sanded with 600 and 800 grit in succession. you can really feel the difference between a sanded and unsanded item. there might be a few bumps left, but overall the pieces are so smooth.
even though i was using palmolive, as madge recommends, i really had dishpan hands!
today i'm working on buffing the pens to a high sheen.
