when i haven't been working on cherry bomb, i've been working on dish cloths. they have been an easy project to carry around and knit in public. i got the pattern from mason dixon knitting. now, they published a near manifesto about the return of dish cloths to the kitchen. but, i have to say, i use a sponge. still, these are really nice. and handy.
i realized my morning tea was scalding the surface of my baker's rack. so now i have a safe surface on which to brew tea. i use the smaller one under my coffee spoon and scoop.
my original intent was to knit one that was the same size as the pattern, and then knit larger ones for dish towels. i ended up with two the pattern size so that i could have one in the wash and one under the teapot. so next up are some larger towels. i bought an insane amount of yarn, all in blues and greens, so i should be able to make about a zillion dish towels. we won't have to go to pier one again for a long time.
Look at you go with that knitting! Gary's aunt, who recently passed away, knit dishcloths like crazy and I love them, they never seem to wear out. But matching knitted dishcloths, and knitted goodies to sit under a coffee cup-very cool and would really come in handy-great idea!

I really love these! I need to see if my library has that book, because they look like something that could definitely be made on a loom.

Love the colors! They're definitely a lot of fun to knit.
Ann & Kay may have made the ball band dishcloth a household item, but the ball band part of the name comes from the fact that the pattern comes on the ball band of Peaches 'n Creme yarn. It's also available on their website: http://www.elmore-pisgah.com/Ballband%20Dishcloth.htm
